The Right Time To Remodel

Can you still remember the excitement you felt when you had your first dip in the cool blue waters of your very own newly-built pool? Or, how about the feeling of bliss you had when you first hosted a party in your home right by your pool?

What was it like to admire the beauty and entirety of your pool? It must truly be wonderful to experience these delightful moments once again.

If you are to scale your pool now, does it still have that “wow” factor that has made everyone else wish they had their own pool too?

If there are times where you feel displeased about the look and luster of your pool, or if you cannot help but notice how your pool is slowly becoming a backyard eyesore, then you should open yourself for a little updating of this amenity.

So, how exactly would you know if it’s already the right time to remodel your pool? To give you a better idea of answering this question, here are some important signs to know when it’s time for a pool makeover.

Cracks And Leaks

If you ever noticed a massive drop-off of water level, then it’s already an alarming sign that your pool is leaking. This is a major problem that you should pay attention to because an active leak can weaken and break every part of your swimming pool.

Water leaking from your pool can do tiny, incremental damage, that adds up over an extended period. Long term leaks that go unnoticed are the start of many pool ownership nightmare stories.

Lack Of Safety Features

Older pools often don’t comply with the latest pool safety requirements. Remodeling your pool allows you to improve the safety of your railings, pool fences, and ladders.

You can also add safety nets, safety covers, lightings, and anti-entrapment equipment. With a pool safety remodel, your backyard can be an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone.

Out Of Style

Pool designs are continually evolving, and your choices and preferences for pool designs evolve with it, too. Perhaps you’ve installed your pool years ago and what was in style the time it was built can look old and dated now.

Since your pool is the highlight of your outdoor space, and if it looks rundown and tired-out, your entire scenery is affected. It’s about time now that you keep up with the modern trends and spice things up in your backyard. Remodeling your pool not only makes it stylish and attractive, but it gives the rest of your property a boost, too.

Worn Out Materials And Equipment

Because of its consistent use in the past years, your pool tiles, decking, and lightings could be worn out already or no longer functional. Worn surfaces and fixtures can be unsightly and a hazard, too. An upgrade of materials and equipment can be a fitting solution for it.

Replacing tired tiles, decking, lighting, and interior surfacing can reinvent the appearance and ambiance of your outdoor space in a major way!

Pool Remodeling Process

Like most remodeling projects, pool remodeling involves a whole lot of moving processes that work together to achieve the desired goal. Our professional pool builders in Tucson, Arizona will be with you every step of the way during this process.

We will help you from start to finish during the remodeling of your pool and together, let’s transform your old pool into a sparkling oasis! Here are the steps we do for pool remodeling to help you understand what our pool installers in Tucson, Arizona will do during the process.
The first step to be done is to drain your pool completely. This is usually done by placing a submersible pump at the bottom of your pool, with a hose leading out to the street. Depending on the size of your pool, the draining process takes about 6 to 12 hours.
Once the pool is empty, the surface needs to be chipped out and then primed to prepare for the new surface. Usually, chipping out the pool only takes about a half-day, which is a good thing because this is often the loudest part of the process. Our contractors will then clean up the gunite shell afterward.
The tiles can now be applied since your pool has already been chipped out. Although this step depends on whether you like your pool to be tiled. But pools with tiles are always beautiful to look at.

When you decide to use tiles, you get to choose what type of tiles we will be putting in your newly-remodeled pool. We apply the grout when installing the tiles. This process can take one to two days depending on how many tiles there are and how complex the tiles are.
The pool surface will be pebble and plaster. We will mix them in the right consistency and amount, and the mixture, delivered by our trucks, is pumped using large hoses into your pool.

Our plaster artisans will hand trowel the surface and so that the result is even and secure. The hand troweling takes approximately 4 to 6 hours.
This officially signifies the start of the pre-filling step. Pebble application is generally quick and should only take a few hours. Once the pebble application is completed, we finish with an acid wash over the pebble surface.
Once the pebble acid and plaster are in place, we begin adding the water. The water must reach halfway up the tile line or the skimmer opening before the water flow is turned off.

It is important that as the homeowner, you should be present during this process because you’ll be the one to ensure that the water is continuously flowing until it fills up the pool.

You may slow it down if you wish but don’t turn off the tap until the pool is filled up. Depending on the pool size and water pressure, filling up the pool should take a total of 12 to 48 hours.
At last, we’ve finally reached the final step. This process depends on whether you prefer using plaster or pebble. Plaster takes longer to fill and so, doing the chemical startup takes longer too compared to pebble.

This is because plaster is more sensitive and you will have to match the water’s pH level to that of an acidic state for a longer period than pebble-based pools.
